Data deletion

Your data belongs to you. Here's what we keep, how to delete it or export a copy first, and what happens after you request removal — in line with our Privacy Policy and applicable law.

What data does Conekt store?

When you use Conekt, we store the following types of personal data to provide our services.

Profile information

  • Name & display name
  • Email address
  • Date of birth
  • Phone number
  • About text & slogan
  • Profile photo
  • Interests

Location data

  • Profile location (text)
  • Geolocation coordinates
  • Search radius preferences

Social & activity

  • Connections (Conekts)
  • Messages
  • Event participation
  • Notifications

Events you host

  • Event details & images
  • Event posts
  • Participant lists
  • Contact info on events

Preferences

  • Theme & language
  • Notification settings
  • Privacy settings
  • Account type

Stored files

  • Avatar images
  • Event cover images
  • Event post images

How to request deletion

You can request deletion of your data in either of two ways.

Option 1

In-app deletion

Open Conekt → go to Settings → select Delete account. This will initiate the deletion of your account and all associated data. You will be asked to confirm before the process begins.

Option 2

Use the contact form

The fastest way to reach us. Selecting the button below opens the contact form with Data deletion pre-selected under reason.

If you prefer email instead, write to support@conektapp.co.za and include:

  • Subject: Data deletion request
  • Send from the email address you use for Conekt
  • Your full name as it appears on your profile

What gets deleted

When you request account deletion, the following data is permanently removed from our systems.

  • Your profile and all associated personal information.
  • All events you have hosted and their associated posts.
  • Your messages and conversation history (except as described in the note below).
  • All connection records (Conekts).
  • Notifications and interaction history.
  • All stored images (profile photos, event images, post images).
  • Your preferences and settings.

Note: Reports, moderation records, and direct messages may be retained for safety and legal compliance purposes, even after account deletion.

Deletion timeline

From the moment we receive your request, here is what happens.

Request received

We acknowledge your deletion request.

Account deactivated

Your account is immediately deactivated and hidden from other users.

Data removed

All personal data and files are permanently deleted within 30 days.

Confirmation

You receive an email confirming that your data has been deleted.

Want a copy of your data first?

Before deleting your account, you can request a data export. Conekt will provide a snapshot of your personal data (profile, events, connections, messages) and email it to you when it's ready.

To request it in the app: open the Profile tab → tap Settings → tap More settings (at the bottom of the screen) → choose Download data, then follow the prompts to confirm where we should send your export.
